Drenge – ‘Undertow’ (2015)

Drenge are an alternative rock duo from Derbyshire. In 2013 they released their debut which was a raucous, energy-driven record. Their second album, Undertow, evolved from the bare-boned garage rock of their debut into a multi-layered follow-up.

Undertow’s overall sound features multi-layered guitars, often soaked with distortion and reverb. The album explores a few styles; punk, grunge & blues. The tracks “Favourite Son” & “Side by Side” could have easily fit on their debut due to their raw punk rock sound. The track listing flows well which keeps bringing me back to spin this record.

Favourite track: Standing in the Cold // Least favourite track: Side by Side
