Queen – ‘Sheer Heart Attack’ (1974)

Queen’s very first taste of global stardom followed shortly after Sheer Heart Attack was released. Influenced by hard rock acts of the time, the album is perhaps Queen’s most hard-hitting piece of work.

The album is carried by Mercury’s unmistakable vocals and May’s multi-track guitar which never fails to miss a step. There is a good variation of sound within the record. The transition from “Stone Cold Crazy” to “Dear Friends” being the perfect example of a polar opposite. “Killer Queen” remains one of my favourite Queen tracks because of May’s fantastic guitar tone and solo, although Stone Cold Crazy is my favourite album track due to its lightning-pace and raw hard rock attitude.

Favourite track: Stone Cold Crazy // Least favourite track: Bring Back That Leroy Brown
