The Moody Blues – ‘This is The Moody Blues’ (1974)

What I like about the Moody Blues is their fusion of rock and classical music within their sound. In the track “Dear Diary”, the sound is rather ethereal as horns and flute play along with soothing guitar. Ray Thomas’ vocals are almost spoken-word with a successful reverb effect.

One of my favourite Moody Blues’ tracks is “Nights in White Satin” from their second record. The track features strong orchestral influences, which ultimately became the core of their overall sound. Favourite tracks: Dear Diary // Legend of a Mind // Nights in White Satin.
